Tanner Foust and partner Emma Gilmour were on the verge of making the Extreme E final in Sardinia, but alas, it was not to be.
A mere 19 seconds were the difference for the DI driver and his teammate in the semifinal. As explained on the Extreme E website: “It was a tense duel between ABT CUPRA XE’s Jutta Kleinschmidt and NEOM McLaren XE’s Emma Gilmour, with the former defending her second place impeccably to keep the latter at bay.” Ultimately, however, the NEOM McClaren was overtaken toward the end of the race.
Nonetheless, it was a remarkable comeback given that Gilmour had rolled her car earlier in the weekend, a testament to the skills of both drivers. They reflected on the race afterward on Instagram.
