The Dunsfold Aerodrome—otherwise known as the Top Gear test track—has seen its fair share of superstar cars and drivers over the years,
But who designed it, and what were their goals with the track? That’s the question that Drivers Inc.’s Ben Collins set out to answer in his latest episode of Ben Collins Drives.
As Ben writes in the introduction:
“The Top Gear test track at Dunsfold is now famous the world over. But who designed its now legendary layout? How did Hammerhead, Chicago, and Follow Through get their names? And would the design change if it was being done today?
We take a walk with the original designer of the track, recounting conversations with Jeremy Clarkson and Andy Wilman 25 years ago, as well as getting into some Dunsfold stories from the heyday of Top Gear.”
It’s an insightful look into a legendary track. Have a watch!
